The two-day exhibition, interaction, and workshop held at the National Law University Meghalaya under the IBITF project represented a major step in advancing financial empowerment for tribal artisans through an AI-powered multilingual e-marketplace. The event brought together artisans, researchers, legal experts, and policymakers to showcase project progress, encourage collaboration, and provide practical exposure to digital commerce tools. The first day focused on presenting the project’s vision and technical developments, including progress on the e-marketplace platform and the creation of a large-scale Khasi-English translation dataset, while also facilitating direct engagement between artisans and visitors through product exhibitions and sales. The second day emphasized capacity building, with expert-led sessions on intellectual property rights, trademarks, and geographical indications, alongside hands-on training that enabled artisans to interact with the platform and understand its functionalities. The workshop successfully strengthened awareness of digital market opportunities, addressed critical challenges related to language and legal protection, and reinforced the integration of technology with traditional craftsmanship. It also generated valuable feedback for further platform refinement and highlighted strong enthusiasm among artisans for participating in a system that supports both economic growth and cultural preservation.
